Vaginal yeast infection

Vaginal yeast infection (vaginal Candidiasis, Vaginal Candida) is pretty common fungal infection. According to health experts, 3 out of 4 women experience vaginal yeast infection during their lifetime. Vaginal yeast infection is caused by Candida albicans but other species of Candida can also cause infection. Usually healthy vagina has different bacteria and some yeast cells and every time when vaginal microbe balance is changed, vaginal candida start multiplication and spread.
Vaginal yeast infection can be very disturbing because of typical symptoms such as intensive vaginal itching, irritation and swelling.
Yeast infection is not considered as sexually transmitted disease but sometimes sexual contact can spread the candida.
